RMU News and Notes:

With the Colonials season starting tomorrow and college basketball tipping off tonight there is plenty to talk about. Here are some things you need to know...

Early Advantage?: The Savannah State Tigers (who as we know by now will take on the Colonials tomorrow night) actually open up their season tonight down at the Pete against the Pitt Panthers. This is a nice advantage for the Tigers (as it pertains to the RMU game anyway) as they will have a game against a high level opponent under their belt before Saturday's game. Pitt should be an NCAA tournament team, and will likely role the Tigers, but it will give Savannah State an opportunity to work out some kinks, and you have to think life will be a bit easier against the Colonials, after all RMU is not an ACC level opponent.

Highlands star good to go: Local Pittsburgh high school star Micah Mason was cleared by the NCAA to play for Duquesne this season. That's big news for the Dukes and head coach Jim Ferry.

The Highlands star will be a major part of the Dukes offense and should contribute immediately. The Colonials play at Duquesne 14th and will have their hands full with Mason. RMU has won three straight for the first time in the series and should still be favored to make it four straight despite the addition of Mason.

One last preview: I know, I know you guys are tired of previews, but Craig Meyer posted his today for the Post Gazette, and it's as good as it gets. Check it out here: 2013-14 season preview: The players and the possibilities

Links: Are buddy over at Colonials Corner has some GREAT features going on. Karvel Anderson is healthy, RMU must build on NIT win, and dont forget the free MESSAGE BOARDS.
