Game one: "Unselfish offensively and defensively"

We're 1-0, time to party!

Robert Morris defeated Savannah State 86-66. I would say it was a tale of two halves, but it’d kinda be a lie. RMU just went from scoring (34 points at half) to scoring at will with 52 second half points. Quick observations:

-Karvel Anderson is still really good. He went 5-8 from three, a few of which were wide open. He did airball one, which was weird. He also still hits that pull-up, midrange jumper from the elbow better than anyone else.

-Chuck Oliver was awesome coming off the bench. He had a solid three point shot (as expected) but the balance was there (got to the line six times). Thank you for making me look smart for talking you up, Chuck.

-Mike McFadden was impressive as well. He showed off a decent mid range jump shot early that opened up more for him as the game went on. As the big men respected his jump shot a little more, he was able to drive (!!!) to the hoops a few times and worked extremely well with his back to the basket.

-RMU went super up-tempo at times on offense, which I loved. The change of pace was brilliant and opened up some wide open three’s and drives to the bucket that resulted in points or fouls.

-On the other side, Savannah State tried to press or trap just about all game. RMU handled it with ease, something they really struggled with at times all the time last year. I was really impressed especially with Kavon Stewart and how he managed the game.

-Y.G.T.M.Y.F.T, dammit (first time this year!!!). 29-45. That has to go up.

That’s all folks, more coming tomorrow.
