Links: RMU defeats Lafayette

Last night, RMU defeated Lafayette College 90-81. It was a really impressive win against a team who will compete for the Patriot League title. Our own Lee Kunkel wrote a recap for City of Basketall Love. I encourage you to give it a read. Here is an interesting blurb...
At the 9:12 mark of the second half, Lafayette led 66-57. Then RMU made their move. “Our urgency really changed at that point. Just the way we matched up in transition, the way we were following our formula defensively,” RMU head coach Andy Toole said.
A Jones 3-pointer out of a timeout got RMU back to within two at the 6:45 mark, and back-to-back Anderson buckets tied the game up with 5:33 to go, forcing Fran O’Hanlon to call a timeout.
Anderson stayed hot, scoring five straight for the Colonials, then calmly knocked down a mid range jumper with under a minute to go to put RMU up 84-78.
“[Anderson]‘s really good. The baseline jumper he hit was a big time shot. We were there, he just stepped up and made big time shots,” O’Hanlon said when asked about Anderson’s performance.
Also, Andrew Chiappazzi of ColonialsCorner.com has an excellent recap (what else is new) of last nigh'ts win.
"We just kept fighting hard. Coach always tells us to go as hard as you can for as long as you can," freshman forward Jeremiah Worthem said. "We kept fighting and kept fighting, got ourselves back in the game and came out with a victory."
Robert Morris got a balanced effort again, as nine different Colonials scored. Lucky Jones had 14 points, while Mike McFadden, Desjuan Newton and David Appolon each had 10 points. Newton also chipped in seven rebounds and three steals, while Appolon ran the point at times with freshman guard Kavon Stewart out..
We'll have much more analysis coming later in the day.
