Julian Boyd tears his ACL again

We had some unfortunate news out of Long Island this afternoon:

Boyd was the 2008-2009 NEC freshman of the year and 2011-2012 NEC player of the year. Boyd was back on his sixth year of eligibility, receiving two medical redshirts in his time at LIU. The first one came in 2009 when he was diagnosed with noncompaction cardiomyopathy, and the second came last year after he tore the same ACL.

This is tough news. LIU may be a rival of Robert Morris, but you don’t want to see great players get hurt like this. On top of that, Boyd may have had a real shot at the NBA. Boyd is a great athlete with size and an inside-out game.

This also has to be devastating for Long Island, who holds a 5-8 record and hasn’t beaten a team inside the KenPom top 200. Getting their best player back could have changed the outlook of the lead.

CTC wishes the best of luck to Julian Boyd’s recovery. Tough news for NEC fans.
